Planned Activity Social Support Groups

South Gippsland Hospital Planned Activity Social Support Groups operate from the Community Health Centre. The Groups are a HACC funded service through the Department of Health and is provided for the elderly (and younger people with a disability) offering an opportunity to socialise, enjoy activities with a meal, with transportation supplied if required. The Groups also provide day respite for carers, support, and monitoring and referral services.

We have five Groups operating as follows:

  • Mondays (Men only) 10.00am to 3.00pm – this group offers a range of activities such as fishing, woodwork and gardening.
  • Tuesdays 10.00am to 3.00pm – this group offers an in-centre program of art, craft and guest speakers with an outing each month. Designed for the frail clients.
  • Wednesdays at Sandy Point 10.00am to 3.00pm – this group is run every fortnight from Sandy Point and is for the more physically active, promoting walking and exercise.
  • Wednesdays at Foster 10.00am to 3.00pm – this group offers an in-centre program of art, craft and guest speakers with an outing each month.
  • Thursdays 10.00am to 3.00pm – this group offers an in-centre program of art, craft and guest speakers with an outing each month.

Groups are run by qualified aged and disablity care workers.
