South Gippsland Hospital Community Health Centre now has an after-hours Diabetes Clinic for those people who find it hard to get away from work or other commitments. Appointments are available between 2.00pm and 7.00pm on Tuesdays and offer support, information and advice on how to manage your diabetes.
Self-management and care is extremely important when you have diabetes as it can double your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol and complications of diabetes can effect vision, kidneys, erectile function and circulation – especially your feet.
By offering after hours appointments we hope people with diabetes will take the opportunity to receive the support they need in diabetes self-management and lifestyle changes and we can refer them to other health care professionals as needed.
The cost is a modest $9.50 per appointment and under a Team Care Arrangement through your GP, you may receive five appointments for free. Please call the Community Health Centre on 5683 9780 for more information or to make an appointment.
